Seeming more basic with each passing year, one of the first home console wrestling games is capable of holding its own for a bit.
#GAMES LIKE WRESTLING SPIRIT 3 PRO#
Like a less extreme Terry Funk, Pro Wrestling for the NES just won't let it go. Resolutely in the mid-card, it is quite obviously eliminated. Ultimate Muscle is a bizarre mash-up of cartoon and wrestling, but it's still capable of giving you a good time. Stupidity doesn't always mean something is bad. But it's not enough to save it from getting clotheslined over the top. The in-ring action isn't anything to shout "YES!" about, but that Wrestlemania mode is pure nostalgia. Impact retires during the match.īoring, turgid, but oddly compelling, WWE 2K14 has a lot in common with Randy Orton. Impressive visuals and intuitive controls work in its favour, but its appearance is derailed by serious injury (i.e. But unlike Rey Mysterio, Impact actually can't contend. Like Rey Mysterio, nobody thinks this underpowered challenger can contend. In fact, a young Mark Henry is actually on the roster, which tells you how old it is.Ģ5. WWF Attitude is like the Mark Henry of wrestling games: mediocre - even if it did feature practically every match type under the sun and had Shane McMahon on commentary.
WWF ATTITUDE (1999) - PSONE, N64, DREAMCAST ECW Hardcore Revolution was like a reskinned version of WWF Attitude, only with more jean shorts and fewer household names.Ģ6. The plucky upstart got itself a couple of video games, and neither was that bad. ECW HARDCORE REVOLUTION (2000) - PSONE, DREAMCAST Hogan, Sting and Jake the Snake make it look special, but it's soon outplayed and dumped over the top.Ģ7. The novelty entrant we all secretly want to see, Showdown gives us a mediocre game, but also some of sports entertainment's biggest heroes. SHOWDOWN: LEGENDS OF WRESTLING (2004) - PS2, XBOX Mixing WWF with Mortal Kombat might sound good on paper, but it is not. The kind of lighthearted, bright and silly thing you're supposed to laugh at but instead cringe at, WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game is the Eugene of wrestling games. WWF WRESTLEMANIA: THE ARCADE GAME (1995) - PSONE, SATURN, SNES, MEGA DRIVE Thrown over, out, into the front row of the crowd.Ģ9. Superbrawl has it behind the scenes - with awesome digitised mini-promos before the action starts - but once it steps into the squared circle everything goes wrong and you realise it's just a bit, well, rubbish. Only one game will walk out with that championship belt, so without further ado, it's time for the 2016 wrestling game Royal Rumble.ģ0. In honour of this weekend's annual over-the-top rope extravaganza, Digital Spy has decided to pit 30 wrestling games of the past and present against each other to see which is the best. Everybody knows the Royal Rumble is THE wrestling event of the calendar year. I find Yoshi rather irritating but that doesn't mean he should be cut.Wrestlemania? Forget about it.
People might find them irritating but that shouldn't warrant their cut. The game developers should do something with them just like Baby Mario and Baby Luigi in Partners in Time.īesides, I find Baby Mario and Baby Luigi adorable characters, and possibly something that appeals to female gamers (though I'm possibly a bit stereotyping in this one). Now, I've grown to like the Baby princesses though. Yoshi's Island DS shouldn't have made all of those babies, it should be strictly Baby Mario and Baby Luigi IMO. Baby Peach and Baby Daisy just made it stale. Baby Mario and Baby Luigi, even though they are mere forms of Mario and Luigi, actually felt a bit special because they were that time paradox duo, and the only ones who could defy time and logic. The rest, I felt like they got added simply for that bandwagon that I feel shouldn't need to exist in the first place. Partners in Time shows that they are completely capable and awesome enough to stay as separate playable characters. Partners in Time gave them an even stronger reason to stay.
Him and Baby Luigi are nice, neat little throwbacks to Yoshi's Island. Baby Mario has been playable ever since N64 Mario Golf and I think he should stay playable with the rest of the main cast.
